Are you good at celebrating reaching your goals or major achievements? I'm not particularly good at this.
When I reached Cairns, I got some help with the celebration from friends who had flown over from New Zealand. A glass of celebratory bubbly is a great thing.
As for the statistics: I biked 1,903km between Brisbane and Cairns. I had five flat tyres including the one where my tyre split. Longest day was 130km. I had two days of rain - the rest were sunshine. The lowest recorded temperature on my cycle computer was 6°c overnight near Brisbane. Highest temperature was 27°c.
I took a break in Cairns after all of this. I had promised myself to go snorkeling on Great Barrier Reef and meet little Nemo.
I'm now facing cycling in Southeast Asia. It will be very different from cycling in New Zealand and Australia. Different traffic situation, different cultures, different yummy food, different weather, and different people. I hope I will get to celebrate some of the people I meet on this blog, so the focus is not so much on me, but on the people who live on our little planet today.
I will finish this with a virtual toast to my friends and family. I could not do this without you!
