Germany was the last country to cross before reaching Denmark. Germany is an amazing cycling country with beautiful cycle paths everywhere. There is no border control because of Schengen and EU, so it was only the sign and the start of the bike path that indicated the border line.
I have seen examples of good cycling infrastructure on my way across the world, but Germany takes first place. I have never been on a cycle motorway!!
Oooohh! How sweet it is to be a cyclist on a cycle motorway/autobahn. The path is wide, the surface is smooth, it's traffic free and you're able to ride at good speed without endangering pedestrians (something people on eBikes appreciate).
I also really enjoyed visiting and staying with friends, I hadn't seen for many years. Arriving at someone's private home and being served an excellent Germany dinner beats any hotel.
Despite the good signage on the bike routes, Maiken and I got lost a few times. We were just too busy looking at the old half-timbered houses. They are kept in excellent condition and one house even had a stork on the roof.
And suddenly the Danish border came within sight...!
